Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Ali on November 10th, 2020
Gus Hansen enjoyed an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only gambler to make it to the final game in three of the events. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on The Game Show Network where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the biggest pots in big stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a large pot with quads against Daniel’s full house. Gus has made many televised poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest players anywhere in the world. While gambling on online poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. He regularly plays in the 200/400 NL max buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus usually buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and plays very poorly. He sits there waiting for a good hand and then pushes all in. I accept that Hansen is an amazing poker player but certainly not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless he is broke, he has little or no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy in.
Playing for the minimum takes most of the skill out of deep stack poker. Gus is presumed to be one of the greatest poker players in the world but he cannot buy in for the full amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world at times. The best players in the world might just be players you have never heard of before. Gus can be seen wagering on web poker on Full Tilt. He generally participates in big stakes omaha hi-low and hold’em. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a competition player. Can he back up his skills in money rounds?
