Internet High Stakes Poker- Gus Hansen
by Ali on February 19th, 2019
Gus Hansen had an amazing year on the World Poker Tour where he was the only one to make it to the final table in 3 of the competitions. Gus Hansen has been seen on High Stakes Poker on GSN where he bought into the game for $400, 000. You may recall one of the largest pots in high stakes poker recorded history up against Daniel Negreanu. Gus raked in a massive pot with 4 of a kind against Negreanu’s full house. Hansen has earned many tv poker appearances and is considered to be one of the greatest enthusiasts in the world. While participating in web poker, another side of Hansen has been seen. Gus frequently plays in the 200/400 NL maximum buy in of Forty Thousand dollars. Gus more often than not buys in for the min of Sixteen Thousand dollars and gambles very weak. He waits patiently for a decent hand and then pushes all in. I believe Hansen is an amazing poker player but not even close to the familiar players at 200/400NL. Unless Gus is flat broke, he has absolutely no reason to settle at the game with the minimum buy-in.
Buying in for the min takes almost all of the ability out of deep stack poker. Hansen is supposed to be 1 of the best players anywhere in the world but he cannot buy in for the total amt.. I think television can skew our view of the real world every now and then. The greatest players in the world may be players you have will not have heard of. Gus can be found playing net poker on Full Tilt. He commonly participates in high stakes omaha hold’em and Holdem. Gus Hansen has shown himself as a tournament player. Can he use his abilities in money games?
