NL Holdem Poker- Who is Phil Ivey?

Phil Ivey has been labeled as the number one poker player on the planet by most of the top pros. He was born in Riverside, CA and moved to Jersey before his first birthday. His grandpa taught him penny-ante 5-Card Stud poker. From then on on, Phil was hooked on poker and wanted to pickup anything he could about poker. He routinely told his grandparents that he wanted to be a professional poker player. He did not permit the adverse feedback from other people destroy his goal of being one of the strongest poker competitors on the planet.
He started competing intently after acquiring a false ID with the name of Jerome. He sharpened his techniques at the poker rooms in Atlantic City. The beginning few years for Phil were a teaching period and winning wasn’t a regular thing at the time. He became known at the 2000 WSOP where he made 2 final tables and came away with his 1st World Series of Poker bracelet, in a two dollar, five hundred Pot-Limit Omaha event. At the last table he destroyed quite a few of the better known professionals including but not limited to "Amarillo Slim" Preston, David "Devilfish" Ulliot, and Phil Hellmuth, Jr.
He made a decision to take his skills to the successive level and moved out west to Las Vegas. Phil continues to participate in in "The Big Game" at the Bellagio with the best players in the world. Ivey credits his achievements to hard work and an eternal passion for the game of poker. He states that he is picking up skills every day and is very humble about his accomplishments. Phil knows he makes mistakes every single game of poker and constantly strives to get better.
Despite the fact that Ivey has won some big-time tournaments, he prefers winning cash games on a regular basis.
